A lease termination letter is simply an information written in a form which gives the notice to a landlord that tenant would be terminating the lease on a particular time and date as specified in the letter. Writing a lease termination letter is not a very big thing that one has to be a master in creative writing skill. However, it has a format which one must be aware of.
The first point to be noted that lease termination letter must be posted at least 30 days in advance so, that landlord has sufficient time in making necessary arrangements further.
The second important point is unless you are sure about your vacancy don’t post letter just to confuse them. That actually means that your lease termination letter must contain the exact date of your vacancy. Certain other important things that must be included in the letter are about your new address so, that the future correspondences regarding payment of safety deposit check if any and other legal issues can be communicated with an ease. As a tenant it is your contractual obligation to keep your landlord updated about the condition of the house or flat. For this you have to ask for an appointment in the letter on any day before the termination. The reason for this meeting is to verify the state of the house or the flat, and if there is any damage that is not caused due to regular wear and tear, you would have to either get it repaired or pay the penalty.
A lease termination letter comprising of all of the above substances would be a great help for both the tenant as well the landlord.
